Overview
Tax summary
Solvewright and rental lines use the business-use % on each receipt, and Solvewright meals count at 50%. LR Helicopters, CBSC and personal costs are listed in the totals but don't go on your return. A record for you and your accountant, not tax advice.
Ask Claude about your records
Claude sees a summary of your tax years plus the receipts and notes that match your question, and answers from them. Questions and that summary go to Anthropic to get the answer; nothing is saved there for training.
Photos go to your private storage in Canada, then Claude reads them and files them using your rules. Each one is marked "to check" until you confirm it.
To check
| Date | Vendor & items | Belongs to | Category | Total | Claim | Proof |

Add to your business log
Write or speak what you did, who you met, what it was about, and any kilometres or hours. These notes go into your CRA report as evidence.
Business log
Tenants
Leases and property papers
Upload a lease, rent increase notice, property tax bill, mortgage statement or insurance policy (photo or PDF). Claude reads it and suggests what to fill in: tenant, rent and dates, or that year's tax, interest or insurance amount. Nothing changes until you tap Apply. Every document is kept as evidence and goes into the CRA report.
Record a payment by cash or cheque
E-transfers already come in from your email receipts. Use this for anything else.
Monthly bank check
Once a month, upload your statement: the CSV download from CIBC online banking (Accounts › Download transactions › CSV) or the PDF statement. Every line is checked against your receipts, so you can see what's matched, what's part of a yearly total, and what's missing from your records. Claude can sort the missing ones for you. The statement is kept as proof.
Your statements
All years at a glance
Refunds in one year don't cancel what's owed in another until CRA processes the returns, and late-filing penalties apply to the years with a balance owing.
Tax year
Employment income (T4) and RRSP
Type the boxes from the T4. Saved per year.
Audit package for your accountant or CRA
Pick the years. The package has a PDF report, an Excel workbook, every proof file for what's claimed, and a manifest with a fingerprint (SHA-256) of each file so anyone can check nothing was changed afterwards.
The CRA report now includes the evidence itself: every receipt photo, emailed receipt, bank line and property document, each stamped with a number (E1, E2…) that the item list points to.

Filing rules for Claude
Claude reads these every time it files a photo. Write them the way you'd explain them to a bookkeeper.
Bring in existing records
Adds the receipt photos and emailed receipts from the old log. Choose the two Hynes_Tax_Package ZIPs (part 1 and part 2). Your records and edits are never overwritten: only missing things are added.
Email auto-import
A small script runs inside your own Gmail every hour. It picks up new receipts, invoices, donation receipts and e-transfers, and sends them here. Claude files each one under "to check" with a PDF copy of the email as proof. Promotions and anything that isn't a payment are skipped. To send any other email in, give it the Gmail label receipts.
- Tap Copy script below. It has your private key in it, so don't share it.
- On a computer, open script.google.com signed in to kylejhynes@gmail.com, then click New project.
- Delete what's there, paste the script, and click the save icon.
- Pick setup in the function menu at the top, then click Run. Google asks for permission: click Review permissions, choose your account, then Advanced › Go to project › Allow. (It's your own script, so Google shows a warning.)
- Done. It now checks every hour. To catch up on the last 30 days once, pick catchUp30Days and click Run.
Recycle bin
Things you delete wait here, left out of totals, reports and Claude. Restore them, or delete them for good. The change history always keeps a note of what was deleted and when, which is what CRA expects.
Security
- Only your account, with your authenticator code, can read or change anything.
- You're signed out after 30 minutes without activity.
- Receipts can't be deleted from the app, and every change is kept in the history below.
- Each sign-in is logged, and emailed to you once the alert key is set up.
